Sony’s E3 Conference

Next up, it’s Sony’s E3 conferenced. Here is what I managed to pick up as it happened:
  • First of all, Jack Tretton is on the stage, where he addresses the PSN outage, which many people predicted they would do so. Sony has announced that they have partnered with CinemaNow.
  • Uncharted is, of course, the first game Sony are showcasing. First off, Naughty Dog are showing a Drakes Deception demo, where you are on a boat, out at sea. It’s cold. It’s raining. Wonderful, eh? And then there would be some sneaky ninja moves to be had with Nathan Drake. Nate’s swaying as the boat is rocking. And now, begins the “jumping onto ledges”. Nathan is at a dead end, where many guns are pointed at him. He throws a grenade and begins his escape out of there. But now there’s a problem. Water has started to pour into the boat…. That’s very not good. The ship topples over, and now Nathan is required to escape as the ship continues to flood. And now he is running from water flooding a hallway, and that is where Uncharted 3 ends. A brilliant demo, I must say. Uncharted 3 Multiplayer beta begins June 28th.
  • The next clip for Uncharted 3 is a trailer, which is in 3D for those at the conference, but not for us. And Nathan Drake just got shot! WHAT?! Sully! Yay! 600 mile desert? Ouch Drake. Good luck crossing that! And you get to jump onto a moving plane wheel? Wowzer, and Elena! Oh my god this game is going to be epic. The graphics have definitely been updated, as the graphics look a lot sleeker.
  • Next, it’s Insomniac talking about Resistance 3. The demo takes place in St. Lewis, and the Resistance 3 gameplay looks pretty sweet. Personally, I am not as excited because I still need to play the first two games, but still. There’s so much going on in the game that you’ll wonder if you can keep up. Now there’s this big creature climbing on top of buildings, snatchin’ your people’ up (I had to say it). So that was a pretty good demo, but so far, not as good as Uncharted 3 so far. On September 6th, there will be a Resistance 3 Doomsday Edition with PS Move goodies in it!
  • God of War: Origins Collection will have Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta as a remastered connection. Both were PSP games. Oh and they will also be in 3D! Released 13th September 2011.
  • Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will also have a remastered collection and will also be in 3D!
  • Sony is introducing a 3D Branded display. They’re really starting to push 3D to its limits.
  • The PS3 3D 24” Monitor Bundle will contain some goodies, including 3D glasses, Resistance 3 and 6ft HDMI cable, and will be available for $499!
  • Playstation Move now and 2K Sports have come on the stage. NBA 2K12 is now being shown on stage, and is showing off NBA On-The-Move, which works pretty smartly, however it’s too confusing for me to explain it. Koby Bryant has just walked onto the stage; epic or what! And the audience have actually started to get themselves involved with the conference, unlike previous conferences today. Koby have said that the game looks too real. Really? The game will be released October 4th.
  • The next PS Move game is Medieval Moves and is a 3D game. The game all depends on the motions you perform. You can use your sword and shield, and motion mechanics to unlock doors and gain entry. You can also use the bow and arrow to blow up things and kill your enemies. Blowing up things may reveal hidden paths too. Fall 2011 is the release period.
  • Next is some InFamous 2 action, which launches tomorrow! Honestly, this game looks pretty sick and will definitely pick this up once I actually finish the first inFamous.
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 will get even more PS Move features for user generated content in September.
  • Next, it’s Starhawk, the sequel to WarHawk. Cowboys in the future much? A lot of machinery action and definitely looks like an interesting pick up.
  • And by the looks of things, there is a new Sly game in town! Sly Cooper is making his return to the PS3. Sly Cooper Thieves in Time coming in 2012
  • Dust 514 is a PS3 exclusive, and will be combined with the EVE online universe (EVE Online is a PC MMO). One Universe, One War. Dust 514 will also support the PS move, so isn’t that good to know.  This game looks like it’s going to blow your mind.
  • Next, we have Bioshock Infinite, which also looks like it’ll blow your mind 10 times over. If you just saw what I just saw, you will nearly be sheading a tear (not really). And the trailer was made entirely from in-game footage, which is even better. And now the announcement that Bioshock: Infinite will support the PS Move. Isn’t that epic?
  • BIOSHOCK FOR NGP?! WHAT?! YOU… WHAT?! Those who buy Bioshock Infinite will get the first Bioshock for free on the same disc.
  • Saints Row 3 will receive exclusive content on the PS3.
  • And now we have a Star Trek game, which includes co-op and PS Move support, and it’s coming out in 2012.
  • SSX PS3 will have Mount Fuji as an exclusive level, Need for Speed: The Run PS3 will get a special blu-ray disc with 7 additional super cars and Battlefield 3 PS3 will add Battlefield 1943 to the Blu-Ray disc for free.
  • Kazou Hirai is on the stage now, where he begins talking about Playstation Suite. It allows things such as Android tablets and phones to run “PlayStation certified” games. And now, it’s time for the NGP. The NGP is officially called the PS Vita. Vita means “life”. Not to be confused with “Vista”. Sony are partnering with at&t in the US. PS Vita features “party chat”. Next is “Near”, which allows you to share and compare with your friends.
  • Now, it’s time for an Uncharted: Golden Abyss demo, and for a handheld game, it looks incredible. The game is showcasing touch screen melee if you so wish to use it. Touch controls is completely optional. You can drag your finger along walls to guide Drake to an area. Golden Abyss runs just like previous Uncharted games, so Golden Abyss feels very natural to Uncharted players. The pricing for PS Vita is: $249 for WiFi and $299 for 3G.
  • Next is another PS Vita game, known as Ruin. It is an Action RPG and will also connect with the PS3. Looks like Diablo III/Torchlight. Kind of anyway. Events will happen in real time. You can connect with the cloud and carry on where you left off on your PS3.
  • Next, it’s ModNation Racers for the PS Vita, developed especially for it, so it is not a port. You can edit maps with splines and your finger, and makes ModNation Racers look amazing on the PS Vita. Owners of ModNation Racers on PS Vita will have access to all the PS3 tracks made by the community.
  • Wipeout 2048 will have cross play and will be available at launch.
  • Now LittleBigPlanet is being showcased for the PS Vita and involved new way to play. It also includes all the tools from LittleBigPlanet 2.
  • Now, Capcom is on stage where Street Fighter X Tekken has been announced, with a Japanese trailer…. Great. The game will be out for the PS3 and PS Vita. Cole from InFamous will be joining the game too, and the game looks badass.
  • And finally, a PS Vita trailer! The PS Vita will arrive this holiday.
