Sony Announces “Playstation Network PLAY”

Sony have today announced a new program they are doing… which will seem extremely familiar when you hear what it is. It’s called “Playstation Network PLAY”, which consists of 4 title games to be released weekly during the summer. People can pre-order the PLAY titles starting from August 9th/10th, and for each title you do pre-order, you will get a neat theme to go with your PS3. “PLAY also offers gamers a separate gift with purchase for each order made throughout the duration of the program”, said the press release, found here. Guess what? There’s more! All users aged 18 or over (or those who are pretending to be 18) who purchase all four of the PLAY titles will receive “PAYDAY: The Heist”. Doesn’t this remind you of Microsoft’s “Summer of Arcade” program? And there’s more too, as all Playstation Plus subscribers will get 20% off each of the games. But just what games are available? Here’s the four games and a brief description on what they’re about. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition – Game 1 (Released 23rd/24th August – Price: $14.99/€14.99) – Originally released in 1997, Capcom reveals the remasted version of Third Strike. The game features 20 playable characters, 200 unlockables, 100 trials, 100 challenges, HD graphics and more! Also, when you purchase the game through the PLAY program, you’ll get an exclusive character, named GILL, a self proclaimed god. The Baconing – Game 2 (Released 30th/31st August – Price: $14.99/€12.99) – This is the third game in the Deathspank series where you attempt to defeat the Anti-Spank and Cyborques before they bring evil across Spanktopia. You’ll explore new worlds and battle many many enemies, plus those who purchase through the PLAY program will get an extra co-op character named Roesha. BloodRayne: Betrayal – Game 3 (Released 6th/7th August – Price: $14.99/€12.99) – This 2D sidescroller features 15 levels, where you play as Rayne, who is attempting to infiltrate a treacherous castle to try and stop an evil vampire massacre. If you buy through PLAY, you’ll get an exclusive Playstation Home avatar item. Renegade Ops – Game 4 (Released 13th/14th August – Price: $14.99/€12.99) – Whereas all the previous games are sequels, this driving shooter features many vehicles, guns and apparently, an endless amount of enemies. If you purchase through PLAY, you’ll get an exclusive Vehicle & Character Pack with two new vehicles and special weapons. And what of PAYDAY: The Heist? This game is released in October, and it costs $19.99 (if you don’t get it as a free game). “You play the role of a hardened career criminal executing intense, dynamic heists in constant pursuit of the next “big score”” the press release says. Hope you all enjoy these brilliant games!
