With Valve’s ‘Portal 2’ days from release it’s time to get your hands on the mastermind classic in which you solve a variety of first person puzzles in the quest to take the fight to GLaDOS the computer system running the facility. The game reached a cult following and the sequel is just around the corner with new features like co-op and a longer single player campaign. the game is set to be one of the biggest releases of April with relatively small competition this month.
With this in mind for those that either missed the classic game or those who only own Portal on PC, the game is now on sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace at a measly 600MSP. That’s half the asking price, you may wonder why those on PC would want another instalment of a game they already own. Portal on the Xbox features 14 extra levels not included in the PC shipped version of the game as well as for those interested in the creation of games a developers commentary. A sale not to be missed, this offer is not a weekly offer and as far as I am aware will be running until the release of Portal 2 on the 18th and 22nd it may however be running for longer I cannot vouch for sure.
Anyway that was a side note to the main bulk of the article which is about Portal 2 and cheeky emails sent out by the boss of Valve ‘Gabe Newell’. The titles of these emails being rephrased into the anagram ‘Reboot Process’ the stage that GLaDOS begins while rebuilding the testing centre at the beginning of the portal trailer. This is the most obvious connection made between the emails sent out to media members being Portal 2 and GLaDOS.
This image is the compendium of the nine emails fragments. Comments on what people believe the image to be would be interesting as this may be a link to the upcoming Portal 2. By deciphering the numbers in the emails its been worked out phrases that almost sound GLaDOS like in comparison. “[T]he system is in lockdown. I still have access to thirteen off-site chambers and am installing a test in each one. I am going to need a lot more test subjects to move forward.” If there are only 13 test chambers I’m hoping for some serious long missions to keep the game at a lengthy pace.
For those who can’t get enough Portal information. Portal 1.5 has started, the webcomic that bridges the first Portal and the 2nd has begun over on IGN comics. Click here to view the comic.
