Need for Speed series changes “parents”

Remember when new Need for Speed games were developed by a single studio that was tirelessly working every year? Apparently, these times are about to come back because Ghost Games director Marcus Nilsson has just said that his company now “owns” the entire franchise. Nilsson’s statement was filled with gleeful marketing, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that this decision may almost kill the franchise just like it was almost killed after the release of Undercover. He says that constant switches between games from different studios made the series “inconsistent”, adding that the upcoming game Rivals will shape the new “face” for NFS, which the studio plans to develop for years to come. If you read between the lines, then the words “repetitevness” and “dulness” are clearly visible. For a short period of time, it looked like EA learned from its mistakes. Unfortunately, now it appears that they didn’t.
