You know him, you love him. Howard Stringer’s replacement as President and CEO of Sony Corporation in June will be the bastion of the PlayStation brand, Kaz Hirai.
Sony announced the move tonight with Hirai’s promotion in April (Stringer will be executive chairman until June).
Hirai is the former head of the PlayStation division, the man who is accredited with running one of Sony’s most profitable operations. Even despite it’s disastrous launch, the PlayStation clawed back a large foothold in market share and profitability during his time at the helm.
Hirai will be expected to work his magic within Sony as a whole, which has struggled due to a lack in innovation and the strength of the Yen against the US dollar.
