We’ve got some good news and some bad news for you today, the good news RockStar have announced the release date of Grand Theft Auto V. Unfortunately it means the game will miss its initial ‘spring’ release date.
“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.” said Rockstar Games in their statement.
It’s an exciting premise that the gaming world can’t wait to get their hands on, but unfortunately you’ll have to supress that desire until September 17th.
The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time. The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created.
Unfortunately the community didn’t respond well to the news, the solid release date didn’t justify the delays and RockStar had to respond:
“Hey all, we understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news – unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV. However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments.
If you’ve preordered GTA V, take care of that receipt for the next 8 months. Grand Theft Auto V is set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 17th with an unconfirmed but suspected PC release somewhere down the line.
