Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Directors Cut TrailerThus far developers haven’t been keen on porting to Wii U, Square Enix have finally taken the plunge. No they’re not porting Tomb Raider, instead opting to bring the Director’s Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Nintendo’s flailing console. Whilst it boasts some additional console exclusive features, it’s disappointing to see the tone in which they’ve handled it. The trailer above is clearly aimed at those who’ve played the title, claiming to fix the once lamented boss fights, but they treat us as if we are children. The extended trailer below has a far stronger impact; there are a lot of lessons to be learnt here:
- Don’t treat your audience like children, especially when targeting Deus Ex veterans
- If Deus Ex ultimately does not succeed at retail, it’s not because adult games are set to fail on Wii U. It’s just hard to justify dropping £50-60 on a game for Wii U when it could be bought on PS3, PC or 360 for less than a tenner.
- If I was going to fix one thing about Deus Ex, it would have been the ending…..
